Fylde Coast Model Flying Association has been flying from the current site on the banks of the river Wyre just outside Fleetwood, Lancashire for over 50 years. Originally we flew from a small plot next to the large cooling towers of Fleetwood power station. In the early 1980's the cooling towers were demolished when the power station was closed down just leaving one building until the development of Fleetwood Marsh Nature Park started in 2003.
In June 2005 the Fleetwood Marsh Nature Reserve and in turn our new flying site was opened by Joan Humble, MP for Fleetwood and Blackpool North, following three years of inactivity whilst our site was moved to make way for the nature park which now is to the north and west of our field. We are extremely fortunate in that we are able to fly seven days a week.
Our members fly RC models of all types including fixed wing, helicopter, drones and control line. An increasing number of members now fly electric models. Our members range from BMFA and club instructors to novices and all members are always willing to share their experiences with new members. FCMFA is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA).
If you are interested in the hobby do take the time to pop down to the site for a chat. Members are usually there most days weather permitting, and in the evenings in the summer months.
